Four Years of Results
The past four years have brought both opportunities and challenges for Haldimand. Through it all, my focus has remained the same: making thoughtful decisions, protecting taxpayers, and planning responsibly for the future.
Working alongside Council, municipal staff, community organizations, volunteers, businesses, and residents, we’ve made real progress on many of the issues that matter most to our community. We’ve helped prepare Haldimand for continued growth, strengthened our finances, supported healthcare and agriculture, and continued investing in Haldimand’s future.
While there is always more work to do, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together over the past four years.
Responsible Financial Leadership
Good leadership means making decisions that not only address today’s challenges but also
prepare Haldimand for tomorrow. Throughout my first term, Council has focused on responsible financial management while continuing to invest in the services and infrastructure our communities rely on.
That has meant balancing today’s priorities with tomorrow’s needs. Good financial
management isn’t about delaying investment or avoiding difficult decisions. It’s about ensuring
every dollar is spent wisely while making sure we’re prepared for whatever the future brings.

- Maintained one of Ontario’s lowest municipal tax rates.

Haldimand continues to grow, but growth must be carefully planned. New development should strengthen our communities without losing the rural character, productive farmland, and quality of life that make Haldimand unique.
During my first term, we’ve taken important steps to ensure future growth is thoughtful, sustainable, and supported by the infrastructure residents expect. Responsible growth also means recognizing what makes Haldimand special. As our communities evolve, we must continue protecting our productive farmland, supporting local businesses, and ensuring new development complements rather than changes the character of our towns and rural communities.

Supporting Agriculture, Business, and Local Jobs
Agriculture has always been at the heart of Haldimand, and a strong local economy benefits every resident. Throughout my term, I’ve worked to support farmers, local businesses, and investment that creates opportunities while respecting our community. Strong communities depend on successful farms, thriving local businesses, and good local jobs. Supporting the businesses that have already invested in Haldimand is just as important as welcoming new opportunities that make sense for our community.

Building Stronger Communities
Strong communities are built through more than roads and buildings. They’re built by supporting the people, organizations, and volunteers who make Haldimand a wonderful place to live.
Those investments aren’t always measured by buildings or infrastructure projects. They’re reflected in stronger neighbourhoods, more opportunities for residents to connect, and programs that help people feel supported throughout every stage of life.

Supporting Healthy and Safe Communities
Every resident deserves access to safe communities, quality healthcare, and the support they need to live well. While many of these issues extend beyond municipal government, they remain some of the most important concerns I hear from residents.
Throughout my first term, I’ve worked alongside Council and community partners to advocate for better healthcare, improve community safety, and support initiatives that strengthen the health and well-being of people across Haldimand.

- Declared intimate partner violence an epidemic.
- Supported initiatives to improve community safety.
- Worked with partners to increase public awareness through initiatives such as the Emily Project.

Standing Up for Haldimand
Some of the biggest challenges facing Haldimand, including healthcare, infrastructure, economic development, and growth, can’t be solved by municipal government alone.
That’s why advocacy has been one of the most important parts of my role as Mayor. Whether meeting with provincial ministers, working alongside neighbouring municipalities, or representing Haldimand as a member of the Canadian Association of Nuclear Host Communities, I’ve worked to ensure our community has a strong voice wherever important decisions are being made.
Our community deserves leadership that is willing to build relationships, speak up when it matters, and make sure Haldimand’s perspective is heard at every level of government. I’ll continue advocating for the resources, partnerships, and opportunities our residents deserve.
