Why I’m Asking
for Another Term

Four years ago, the people of Haldimand entrusted me with the privilege of serving as your Mayor. It’s a responsibility I’ve never taken lightly. Since that day, I’ve approached every decision the same way: by listening carefully, asking questions, considering the long-term impact, and always putting the interests of Haldimand first.

Over the past four years, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with residents, farmers, business owners, volunteers, community organizations, and service clubs across Haldimand. Those conversations have reinforced what I have always believed: local government isn’t about headlines or politics. It’s about listening, making thoughtful decisions, and improving the everyday lives of the people who call Haldimand home.

That’s why I’m seeking another term as your Mayor. There is still important work ahead, and I believe Haldimand’s best days are still ahead of us.

Leadership Starts with Listening

Being Mayor isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about making sure the right questions are asked, different perspectives are considered, and every decision is made with the best interests of Haldimand in mind.

Whether I’m meeting with residents at a community event, talking with local business owners, visiting one of our farms, or sitting down with volunteers who give so much of their time, every conversation offers a different perspective. Every voice matters, and every perspective deserves to be heard before important decisions are made.

No two issues are exactly alike, which is why I’ve never believed in one-size-fits-all solutions. I take the time to listen, ask questions, gather the facts, and weigh the long-term impact before making a decision. That’s the kind of thoughtful leadership I believe residents deserve, and it’s the approach I’ll continue to bring to every decision if I’m honoured to serve another term.

Growing Without Losing Who We Are

Haldimand has always been a place where productive farmland, small towns, local businesses, industry, and natural spaces exist side by side. Preserving that balance while planning for future growth has been one of the most important responsibilities of my first term.

At the same time, growth has to be thoughtful. Growth should create opportunities for residents while preserving the character and quality of life that make Haldimand such a special place to live. Our roads, water systems, emergency services, and community facilities need to keep pace. We also have a responsibility to protect the farmland, small towns, and rural character that make Haldimand unlike anywhere else.

Throughout my first term, I’ve supported development that reflects those values while speaking up when proposals didn’t align with the long-term interests of our residents. Responsible planning isn’t about saying yes to everything or no to everything. It’s about making decisions that will still make sense twenty years from now.

Four Years of Moving Haldimand Forward

When I first took office, I committed to leading with common sense, careful planning, and respect for taxpayers. Those principles have guided every decision we’ve made.

During the past four years, we’ve taken important steps to prepare Haldimand for the future. We’ve maintained one of the lowest municipal tax rates in Ontario while developing a comprehensive financial strategy for long-term sustainability. We’ve advanced affordable housing and physician recruitment strategies, strengthened support for agriculture, improved our digital services, and secured new investment opportunities that benefit residents without placing additional pressure on taxpayers. We’ve also continued advocating for Haldimand at every level of government, ensuring our community has a strong voice on the issues that matter most.

I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but I also know there is more work ahead. Strong communities aren’t built in a single term. They’re built through steady leadership, thoughtful planning, and a commitment to always put residents first.

Looking Ahead

Our county has incredible strengths: hardworking people, thriving farms, successful businesses, dedicated volunteers, and communities that genuinely care for one another.

My commitment is to protect those strengths while planning responsibly for the future.

As your Mayor, I’ll continue approaching every decision with the same principles that have guided me throughout my first term: listening first, planning responsibly, respecting taxpayers, and always putting Haldimand’s interests first.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Mayor.

I hope to earn your support once again.
